Oceania Sonata: innovation, design and engineering for a new generation of cruise ships

01.07.2026

Somec Navale continues its long-standing collaboration with Fincantieri on Oceania Sonata, the first vessel of the new Sonata Class for Oceania Cruises, scheduled for delivery in 2027.

The scope includes architectural enclosures and glazing systems across cabin and public areas, featuring 520 balconies, 2,700 metres of balustrades, 700 dividers, 890 sliding doors, 70 fixed windows, over 3,100 m² of structural glazing, automatic doors, a skylight and the navigation bridge glazing.

Among the project’s most distinctive elements are the new prefabricated balconies, reaching depths of 2.8 metres and surfaces between 8 and 16 m², significantly larger than standard cruise ship balconies.

The vessel also introduces innovative solutions such as a new teak-effect resin flooring and an integrated LED lighting system within the sliding window cassette, designed to enhance aesthetics, durability and passenger comfort.

The project further strengthens Somec Navale’s position as a global leader in marine glazing and naval architectures, combining engineering expertise, innovation and attention to detail to deliver advanced solutions for next-generation cruise liners.
