Somec secures orders worth over 119 million Euro for a new generation of cruise liners

Somec S.p.A. announces that it has been awarded new marine glazing contracts worth a total of over 119 million Euro, covering the supply of glazing systems and architectural elements  for a new series of cruise liners being built at a leading French shipyard.

The agreement, which falls under the Horizons Division, covers two vessels, with options for further units. Supply and installation will take place over several years, with deliveries and the related financial benefits expected between 2028 and 2040.

With their entirely new silhouette, the new-generation vessels – destined for one of the world’s leading cruise lines – will require solutions that combine design freedom, visual continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces, safety and energy efficiency. Somec will help shape the ships’ architectural envelope with an integrated package of glazing systems and balcony components.

The orders also include the supply of AVSW (Automatic Vertical Sliding Windows) systems: an automated solution that allows the glazed surfaces to be opened to varying degrees, creating seamless continuity between indoor and outdoor experience closer to the sea. These systems support a more versatile, contemporary approach to onboard spaces, where technology and design come together to enhance the passenger experience.
