SOMEC Group co. BLUESTEEL S.r.l., a European player in the construction and installation of curtain walls and fixtures, has been awarded a new project worth £10.5mn (€12mn+ at current exchange rates) for a prestigious architectural project in Central London.
The project consists of the construction of a 13-storey building, part of a large residential complex in Westminster on the Thames, located right in front of the Big Ben and the English Parliament. The new construction will host both residential spaces and commercial activities.
Specifically, BLUESTEEL will be in charge of the design, production and installation of the building’s cell façade system, as well as other components such as glazed balustrades, cladding, sliding systems and fixed glazed parts.
“Just over a year after BLUESTEEL joined SOMEC, the company has been awarded one of the most significant projects in its history, in a context of absolute prestige in the heart of London – declares Oscar Marchetto, SOMEC Chairman -. It should also be mentioned that, just a few days ago, our American curtain wall flagship specialist FABBRICA USA obtained an equally important project in New York, thus underlining the value of our expansion strategy in civil glazing, launched in 2018 with the acquisition of FABBRICA. Today it’s the turn of the United Kingdom, a market with great potential, in which we are investing with conviction and which we have entrusted to the new managing director, Stefano Trevisan, assisted by an expert management team and strengthened by new and important entries. My personal applause and that of the Group goes to Stefano and to the entire Bluesteel team“.
